Multi-store motor factor upgrades servers for "essential" business management solution
SDL Minorfern expands its Autopart server infrastructure after moving to a larger head office
SDL Minorfern, a motor factor and parts distributor based in Chesterfield, has reinvested in MAM Software's market leading business management solution, Autopart, by renewing its server infrastructure.
Earlier this year SDL Minorfern expanded to a new 40,000 sq. ft. head office, warehouse and distribution centre at Clay Cross, Chesterfield. Founded in the early 1970s, the company employs over 250 staff across nine branches in Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire.
"We outgrew our old premises and it was logistically becoming increasingly difficult to manage," as Dan Holmes, IT Manager at SDL Minorfern explains. "Our new head office, warehouse and distribution centre has given us the capacity to increase efficiency and progress the business in the coming years."
Autopart's intuitive features allow SDL Minorfern to efficiently manage its core operations, control costs and generate new profit opportunities. The software integrates all of the company's sales, stock management, accounting and reporting processes into one easy-to-use package.
"Our old server estate was part of the initial Autopart rollout moving from our previous system a few years ago," Dan continued. "It was approaching the end of its lifecycle and upgrading to the latest technology was always part of our plans when we moved to Autopart."
"Autopart and Autocat are essential platforms for any business wanting to progress in the automotive aftermarket. As a business we have expanded to utilise a great deal of what the Autopart package has to offer."
"SDL Minorfern constantly strives for efficiency and smarter working, by taking on the new and developed functions in Autopart we hope to continue this trend."
As well as upgrading its server infrastructure, the company has chosen to deploy MAM's warehouse management software (WMS). WMS is an additional module for Autopart which offers extensive warehouse stock movement capabilities. Using handheld scanners, WMS is designed to maximise the efficiency of every stage during the stock control process.
Dan said: "Using WMS will now take our central warehouse and distribution centre to a new level of accuracy."
"We're delighted that SDL Minorfern has upgraded its Autopart servers and taken WMS on board to help efficiently manage its warehouse operations," said Mark Kendall, Head of Sales at MAM Software.
"Like the thousands of UK businesses that use Autopart, SDL Minorfern have used its extensive functionality to grow to be a bigger player in the market and make its day-to-day operations more efficient. Additional modules like WMS will allow the company to bring more key processes under one reliable system."
