Direct sales company moves “into the new world” with the cloud and iPad devices
Cloud move improves speed, reduces costs and facilitates roll out of tablet app for Berner UK Ltd
Berner UK Ltd. formerly Toolcom Supplies, says that it has modernised its business after successfully upgrading to Autopart Online, MAM Software’s cloud-hosted versatile business-management software. The company has also rolled out MAM’s SalesRep tablet app to 20 of its field-based sales representatives, to help them strengthen customer relationships and improve productivity.
Based in Dunfermline, Fife, Berner UK offers a wide range of automotive consumable products to customers primarily in the UK transportation markets. With almost 40 years experience, the company also supplies hand and power tools, janitorial, PPE and workshop consumables to consumers around the UK.
By making the switch to Autopart Online from the Autopart on-premise solution, the company says it has started to reap the benefits that a move to the cloud entails. These include speed improvements when filing reports, reduced maintenance costs and the ability to seamlessly add additional MAM modules, such as MAM SalesRep, to the software. In particular, Berner was delighted with the smooth switch to the solution.
Furthermore, the move to Autopart Online means that Berner is safe in the knowledge that its servers are secure by being hosted by MAM. They are now stored and monitored in a state-of-the-art data centre, which has flood and fire resistant measures in place, and back-up generators in the case of a power cut.
“The main reason for our upgrade to Autopart Online at Berner was our eagerness to progress into the new world,” said Marco Schepers, Project Manager at the Berner Group. “With our servers being hosted at MAM Software, we have taken away risks to our business, such as losing power to our servers. We have increased our data security, eliminated maintenance costs and our IT team can now focus on other elements of the business.”
The company has also recently rolled out MAM’s SalesRep app to 20 of its field-based employees via its new iPad devices.
By communicating directly with an MAM business management solution (including Autopart Online) via WiFi or 3G/4G, the app enables Berner staff to access account information, customer notes and transaction history while out of the office. They can check pricing, view stock availability and raise orders directly from the app. It also allows Berner employees to conduct impress or managed stock checks and create replenishment orders.
“In terms of the SalesRep app, we received amazing, positive feedback from our staff. All 20 users have been flabbergasted, and they’re now all ready to hit the road and use this device,” Marco continued.
