Thor Automotive Cash & Carry to use Autopart Online and Origin WebTrade to "deliver far more enhanced customer service"

The Thor Group, comprising of aftermarket distributors Thor Automotive Cash & Carry and Thor Car Parts & Accessories, has chosen Autopart Online, MAM Software's market leading business management solution, to manage its operations and improve customer service.

The move means that Thor Automotive Cash & Carry will be switching to use the same business management software as its partner business, Thor Car Parts & Accessories, which has been using Autopart Online since opening its doors in 2015.

Established in 1987 in Peterborough, Thor Automotive Cash & Carry chose to move to Autopart Online because its old business management software lacked functionality and web connectivity. Autopart Online's seamless integration with Autocat v8, MAM's next-generation parts catalogue, was also a deciding factor.

"Our current IT solution, whilst serving us well over the past 8 years, needed overhauling to meet the needs of an ever-changing business and market.," as Raj Morjaria, Director at Thor Group explains.

"There was no facility on there to do things such as vehicle registration look-up and we couldn't link it into any website."

"The majority of our customers already use MAM products and this move will allow us to align more closely with them. Access to tools such as Autocat v8 will allow the expansion of further sales of parts and ancillary products."

Autopart Online is the cloud hosted version MAM's market leading business management solution. Hosted in a state-of-the-art data centre, the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) approach will allow the Thor Group enjoy the same innovative functionality as MAM's on-premise solutions without the need to maintain costly on-site servers.

Speaking about the benefits of using cloud hosted software Raj said: "We chose to go with the cloud because our branches won't need to backup their data at the end of the day as it's all taken care of for you, it is regularly updated and updates are done for you so you're pretty much up to date all the time."

As well as implementing Autopart Online, Thor Automotive Cash & Carry will be launching its very own online trading portal using Origin WebTrade, MAM's B2B e-commerce solution, after seeing its partner business use it to effectively meet the increasing demand for online sales.

"We wanted to establish a trade portal because it's a necessity to offer that route of trading to a customer base," Raj continued. "My philosophy is that we have to make it easy to trade with Thor. If a customer wants to trade with us electronically then we need to offer that."

WebTrade is a web-based parts catalogue and shopping basket application for B2B trade sales built by Origin Software solutions, an MAM-owned e-commerce provider for the automotive aftermarket.

Leveraging the latest Internet technologies, WebTrade will enable Thor Automotive Cash & Carry to receive orders directly into its Autopart Online system for processing.

The group say that once Automotive Cash & Carry has gone live with Autopart Online it plans to employ more MAM solutions to improve the effectiveness of its business operations. These include SaleRep, a feature-rich tablet app for field based sales representatives, and Driversboard, a delivery vehicle planning and dispatch module.

"The introduction of Autopart Online into Thor Automotive Cash & Carry allows the group to deliver a far more enhanced customer service," Raj said.

"This coincides with more exciting news - the launch of our trading website into the
Peterborough branch, which new and existing customers will be able to access."

"It is a very exciting time to be part of the Thor Group as we continue to invest in the business to ensure the group is geared up for the future."

"We're delighted that the Thor Group have decided to utilise Autopart Online in both of their businesses," said Mark Kendall, National Sales Manager at MAM Software.

"We're also pleased to be supporting Thor Automotive Cash & Carry in establishing their online trading portal. As well as helping to make their business more accessible and greatly improving customer service, we are looking forward to developing a close relationship with the Thor Group in the future."
